The newly developed Method Race Wheels 107 Race Series with Bead Grip® Technology is a first race wheel to utilize the proprietary patented technology. Developed in conjunction with the formidable Toyota Gazoo Racing cross-country rally race team who are the defending 2019 Dakar Rally champions, to meet the toughest demands at the highest level of international off-road racing. Toyota Gazoo Racing elite driver lineup of Nasser AL-Attiyah, Giniel De Villiers, Bernhard Ten Brinke, and Fernando Alonso who compete in the highly competitive T1.1 petrol modified A-T 4x4 class under the FIA ruling have been putting the new 107 Race Series wheel through the ultimate durability test, Dakar.
Unique to the T.1.1 classes FIA rules is the inability to use a conventional beadlock race wheel. With the demands for lower air pressures to float the all-wheel drive machines over the softest dunes, the incorporation of the patented Bead Grip® Technology is a must. Bead Grip® Technology engages the inner and outer bead of the tire into a seat along the wheel, allowing the tire to be seated while at lower tire pressures. Additionally incorporated aggressive inner safety hump designed to hold the tire in place during increased side loads form cornering. The new 107 Race Series wheel is constructed from solid A356 aluminum construction with proprietary heat treatment and reinforced inner lip provides extreme strength and durability.
In third party lab test of traditional Method Race Wheels with conventional tire bead seats against Method Trail Series wheels with integrated Bead Grip® Technology the below graphic shows the dramatic increase in tire retention ability from the new technology. Known as the Tubeless Tire Bead Unseat Resistance Test by the U.S. Department of Transportation National Highway Traffic Safety Administration using a BFGoodrich® 285/70/17 tire.
